| Spells are not cure-all, infact they contribute to hard work. then why write weather spells and other things which can't be controlled by us? Discuss... | |

| Spells are not a life line to one who doesn't know how to use them. Spells have traditionally been used by people who are into occult wisdom, not amateurs. Traditionally, the amateurs either had spells done for them, or they used talismans charged by specialists. Today we think anyone can rattle off a spell and it will work as ordered. This is as much comfort as a sugarcoated pill.
Spells that are potent can harm. Spells that are "safe" usually work in situations where any placebo would do.
For beginners, I would suggest using protection spells, but not weather. | |

| I think this really depends on what you think we can and cannot control. Many people have and continue to believe things such as weather can be controled, and to some extent, I agree. Energy is energy. If I can, with a spell, control energy to the point of causing the proper circumstances to occur to secure me a job, what's the difference in controling natural energy and willing the weather to change? As far as spells contributing to hard work, well thats a matter of personal belief. Spells nowadays are geared more to instant gratification...as that is the society we live in. I can do a money spell, go buy a lottery ticket and win 50 bucks. Did the spell work? Perhaps, depending on how you see it. Was it a result of hard work? Absolutely not. I will say that I firmly believe doing a spell just to do a spell is pointless. Many people who are new to magick in general have the mind set that if they say a few words and snuff out a candle on the right day they will have everything they want fall into their hands. I agree with ill that for the newbies, protection spells are a great start. I also like to get my students to do luck spells when first starting. Nothing amusing me more than a student who does a general luck spell and finds a penny on their way home. | |
